Lancashire animal sanctuary hosts family fun day to celebrate refurb

Woodlands Animal Sanctuary in Ormskirk, Lancashire is welcoming families and their pets to celebrate its newly launched community hub with a family fun day on Saturday 19th August.

The sanctuary, which cares for poorly animals and pets in need of a new home, has been supported by local Lytham veterinary nutraceutical business, VetPlus, to fund the project.

The refurbishment has transformed a former stable into a vital new community hub for the charity to host educational events, open days and support ongoing fundraising efforts, year-round.

The donation from VetPlus has supported the charity in fitting new insulation, kitchen cabinets, and a suite of brand-new furniture for the space.

Work on the project began in December and is set to finish ahead of the family fun day this weekend, where locals will have the chance to check out the new space.

Visitors on the day will also be able to enjoy games, bouncy castles, a variety of stalls, refreshments and the chance to meet animals from the sanctuary, as well as birds of prey from Lancashire Hawks, and reptiles from the North West Reptile Club.

Pups can join in with the fun too as part of a dog show including categories for every pooch, from ‘scruffiest and fluffiest’, to ‘super seniors’ and even ‘perfect pairs’ for dogs who have lookalike owners.
